Tandem cells combine multiple layers of photovoltaic materials with complementary absorption spectra to capture a broader range of sunlight and convert it into electricity more efficiently. By stacking different semiconductor materials, such as silicon and perovskite, tandem cells can achieve higher efficiencies than single-junction cells while maintaining cost-effectiveness. In 2024, the research on this technology is expected to focus on optimizing materials, device architectures, and manufacturing processes to commercialize this promising technology for widespread deployment.
    • Moreover, innovations in solar panel design are making solar power more versatile and accessible to a wider range of applications. From solar shingles that seamlessly integrate with roofing materials to transparent solar panels that can be used in windows and facades, the future of solar panel technology is becoming increasingly integrated into the built environment.
