Fake grass could be as complicated as not all people knew. In this section, in the artificial grass world, we’ll explain all the specific terms so you can understand product conditions and find the artificial grass that will be the greatest fit for your project.

    YARN

Polyethylene, polypropylene, and nylon only these three types of yarn are used in artificial grass:

    • Polyethylene: Because of the versatility and balance between durability, aesthetics, and softness, Polyethylene is the most commonly used.
    • Polypropylene: For putting greens Polypropylene is typically used as a roof layer on land grasses.
    • Nylon: the most expensive and durable yarn material is Nylon, but it’s not soft and is most commonly used for putting greens.

To mimic specific species of grass, Yarn comes in a variety of colors, thicknesses, and shapes.

    Density

Density is the number of blades per square inch and it is also called sew count. A denser stitch count signifies a higher-quality turf, similar to the thread count in sheets.  Denser grass products are tougher and provide a more genuine artificial grass lawn.

    Backing

Primary backing and secondary backing are the two parts of artificial grass.  To provide dimensional stability to the entire system both the primary and secondary backings work together.

    Primary backing

The primary backing is involved woven polypropylene materials that allow the artificial grass fibers to be tufted into the material in rows and simplify seaming between artificial grass plates. A good backing will fight stretching.

    Secondary Backing

The Secondary Backing is applied to the reverse side of the primary backing to permanently lock the tufted fibers permanently in place and is referred to as the ‘coating’. For any installation area, a decent back weight is a must that will see heavy traffic.
